In summer of 1997, I looked for a school for my 3 year old son. I’ve been to several schools but non has the kind of curriculum I was looking.

     Finally, I decided to teach him myself despite of my full time work in U.P. ISMED then. I turned our bedroom into a classroom with shelves filled with materials. Indeed, I was successful in making him read but not in writing.

     It was in January of 1998 when a friend of mine in the person of teacher Juana, now owns the school in the other end of this street,  suggested that we put up a school. She  worked as an assistant teacher in Celerina that time earning a little amount and has to walk her way to and fro the place.  I thought it was a good idea.

   

    The school first operated in S.Y. 1998-1999 with 50 pupils in a living room turned classroom. It was named TINY TROLLS MONTESSORI SCHOOL by my husband Joseph. I administered the school in a long distance basis since I work full time. A lot of administrative problems propped up due to the fact that I’m not an administrator by profession but a teacher and   the set up was  too risky.    But by God’s grace, we were sustained in our first year.

    

    During the second year of operation (SY 1999-2000) we increased to 80 pupils. More problems added also, this time very personal. Relationships among us grew unhealthy and unbecoming but I know God had allowed those things to happen for a great purpose.

     

     Hence, in June 1999, my husband and I made a covenant with the Lord. We ask him sincerely for a place to put up a school and a school building which would allow further expansion, then I will resign from my work to personally attend to the management of the school. That time my Joshua, my son was enrolled in a Preschool in UP. We had some problems regarding  transportation and distance. All the more we prayed for our requests. 

    

     We has nothing at hand at that time except our Faith that if it’s God’s will nothing is impossible. Indeed God displayed his wondrous work through our nothingness. It took our little faith to look for a place with confidence in our heart that God will provide us

financially but what is exciting about the thing was we don’t know who and how will God go about it.

 

    To express our faith, we looked for a lot minus the money to purchase it. Then we found the first lot, the cheapest at that time. We did not even bother to ask the Lord why this place, it’s so secluded. Next we looked for a financier. We ‘ve search near and far until the Boss of my husband heard about the matter and he himself approach my husband and offered help. This is how it all began. 

 

    We were able to start in this place in June 2000 with 60 pupils, preschool to grade 1. To all our clients/parents that time thank you for trusting us.

     The following year, we continue to offer Level 2 with 100 pupils.

  

     In June 2002, our population increased to 150 pupils. It was in this school year, January 2003, that our name was changed to RIDGEWOOD SCHOOL OF  CALOOCAN. Ridgewood is a village in NY which is known as lamp burner. The name attracts me because I want the school to serve as an enlightenment to the young ones and even with the family they are in.

    

     To date we are almost 250 in population. We, the staff of Ridgewood know in our heart that God ‘s leading, protection, guidance and wisdom will be upon us if we continue to trust Him. And as we close this afternoon the week long celebration of our Foundation Week , we give all the Glory and Honor to God for sustaining all of us through .
